Some friends and I were in the Poconos over July 4th weekend. One of our friends, who currently lives in PA, kept talking about Cracker Barrel, and how we should try it. So, on our last night, we decided to make the trek out for some Cracker Barrel. The drive from where we were staying wasn't too bad, and there is plenty of parking space (reminds me of Rochester!). I had no idea what Cracker Barrel was, other than a Southern style comfort food restaurant. They have a bunch of rocking chairs you can sit on (or purchase!) while you wait for your table to be ready, in addition to having a few checkers tables. Inside, you are first in a gift shop of sorts before you proceed to the restaurant. The restaurant seemed like it had plenty of seating, and my party of 8 was seated with about a 20 minute wait during prime dinner time. The service was top notch. The waitress kept coming over to make sure that everything was OK, that we were satisfied, etc. Even with a packed restaurant, she made sure to stop by to check up on us. The food was also pretty good. Most of the menu is Southern style, and they have a bunch of combination offers (get an entree, and two sides, for example). I went for the Pepper Sirloin on their "healthier" menu, while my friends opted for other meats (rib eye, ribs, etc). Overall, the general consensus was that the food was pretty good, especially for a chain restaurant. Definitely exceeded my expectations, as I wasn't even sure what to expect. Another plus is the pricing, as the food is decently priced (my steak was about $11-12). If only they had locations in the NYC area!

Food was amazing but terribly unhealthy. Go in feeling hungry, leave feeling guilty and tired. I'm a proud Yankee but can't resist Cracker Barrel's brand of southern hospitality. Order a plate off the Fancy Fixin's menu and the friendly waiters and waitresses will bring you more food than it's safe to consume in one sitting.

A very good place for breakfast or any other meal. One issue I have though is I tend to get sick right after I eat here. I actually think it may be a sensitivity to what they use to cook their food in. I have IBS so I can't really blame them. Just keep that in mind if you have IBS or other food sensitivities.

I love visiting Cracker Barrel but love this location very much when we visit the area. Staff from the store to the servers are always friendly and helpful with a smile. The common areas of this restaurant and store is neat and clean. I just love the double meat breakfast as it will start your day right or end it, all day breakfast is another plus. Corn muffins and biscuits with your meal is another pro when you visit. Don't forget the sweets at the end of your meal and to work off those extra calories, walk through their store to see what bargains to be had. Very difficult to control your sweet tooth as they have tons of candy from days gone by which brings back a lot of memories.

If you get a chance. Sit by the fire. We got there for breakfast on a morning when it wasn't packed. WOW, you wont go hungry here. We got the table in front of the fire. Best seats in the house. Waitress was on the ball and very helpful.

It is a very good Cracker Barrel. Many selections. Large portions, attentive staff. They have a little store up front. Corn muffins and biscuits are included with your meal.

Among my top 5 fav's this is at the top for me. Love many things about cracker barrel. The incredible history hung all over their walls and ceiling, the store with all the old school candy and many other things and absolutely most of all their authentic country style cooking. There are too many things to name on their menu that is worth buying.

Food is good at every location I've ate at. However, the location by Walmart, is very slow!! I had to wait 20 minutes just to talk to a server and get water.

This place I highly recommend. I love the way this place is set up. There's a little store while you wait for your table to be ready. There's this cute little checker board to play on as well as many other cute nic nacks. Now this is my first time at a cracker and barrel, the people there are very nice. They smile and I feel like they want to work there. The waitress was fast and polite. We had 5 dishes and those came with side dishes that can fill anyone up. Two rib eyes, one cat fish, one buttermilk chicken, and sirloin. Everything was above average. This place was probably the best place in the area for this type of food. The wait time was very quick. Basically this store made me happy, cause they were polite and the manager approached us, he was so nice and caring. I'm just speechless at how good this place was. Normally I can critique how bad this place is, this waitress deserves a praise.

Cracker Barrel has decent comfort food, and they serve it very fast, which is great if you're in a hurry. The service here is usually pretty good, and we had a fantastic waiter the last time we went. I don't like that certain menu items are only available on certain days. I love the Homestyle Fried Chicken, but you can only get it on Sundays. I also like chicken pot pie, but they only have it for lunch on one weekday. Went there once for lunch during the week to specifically have that, and they were out. :P One thing I can't understand, given the nature of the restaurant.. they have the worst cornbread muffins I've ever had. They are dry and tasteless. The biscuits are good though.

All you need at Cracker Barrel is a $20 and an empty stomach. You'll leave with $5 and the urge to never eat again! (Or until the next morning.) Service is always attentive and prompt and I've never had a bad experience. I'll certainly keep coming back.

A must for cheap breakfast or a "southern" lunch/dinner. Being born and raised in South Carolina, this is a chain restaurant I was glad to see come to this area. I find it amusing that many of the breakfast menu items come with grits, but the servers don't serve them unless you ask, since nobody in Northeast PA eats grits (except me). I have been here tons of times. The service is excellent, the prices are cheap, and the food is good. Gets a bid crowded during peak times, but that is to be expected. Also, the country store is fun! And they stock bottled sarsparilla, which makes my husband very happy.

First time for me at a Cracker Barrel. I liked it! Service prompt and friendly, food was good and price was right. We both had the Sampler Plate and coffee.

It was crowded when we went to Cracker Barrel and it took us roughly 20-30 mins to get seated. Our waitress wasn't friendly and was rarely at our table, Never offered napkins and only came back once to refill our drinks (we declined because we were nearly done) and leave our check. We had to wait roughly 10-15 mins for our food (which is fine). I ordered the pancakes, bacon, eggs, and for a drink I got frozen apple cinder. The pancakes were good, The maple syrup that came with it didn't taste that good, In fact I could barely taste it in the first place. The bacon was a bit too fatty, obviously rushed, and was dripping with grease. I remember eating the last half of a piece of bacon and grease filled my mouth, To the point where I had to spit it out onto my plate because it tasted awful. I got the scrambled eggs and there was still quite a bit of yolk in them and lukewarm as well, Once again it was clearly rushed and not cooked fully. The frozen apple cider wasn't even cold, The mug was cold but not the cider was not, Which was rather disappointing. The prices were a bit too high as well. My brother and sister got like 4 chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and a biscuit for nearly 8 dollars. What a rip off. My meal was the same price and no where near as good as it's worthy/ Overall, I would not recommend Cracker Barrel. Poor service, Long waiting, and expensive food that doesn't even taste that good.

WOW. I bet no one from HQ in Lebanon, TN ever visited this location. Hubby & I get to a cracker barrel almost daily on road trips, certain of quality and consistency. Not in Wilkes-Barre; this is closest to home, 2nd time here, worst than the first time. We gave it a pass last time, a concert and all young servers called in "sick". But Saturday, the hostesses were too self absorbed in conversation. She: "How many?" Me: "two, and we..." She kept talking to her buddy. I stated first dining room, trouble walking. She, after taking us way in the back: "is this ok?" Me: " no, l said we want to be up front. " she: "ok, enjoy your meal" and POOF she was gone. I haul myself up front to the ladies' room, she was too busy finishing her story. Another gal with candy samples: how are you? Me: "not good, excuse me." Crap, now I'm blocked from the restroom while she wants to know why I look exhausted. Back at the table, l ask Hubby if he ordered for us. Nope. 12 mins later two tables of four who came in after us are served their meals. Then a gal with a tray: "um, are you being helped?" Me: (loud& blunt) "Nope!" She (Alicia) took our order. 1:45, l ordered simple breakfast, hubby had chix tenders over rice, he said it was great. The weird sausage (that l didn'torder)l got was ...well, weird cold rubber. The server who delivered, I asked if she was now our server, she: "no, you tip Alicia". Ugh. Ordered one egg, one biscuit, side cuppa gravy. I got 3 biscuits, bowl of gravy, weird 'sausage'. Asked second server if my soft scrambled was coming. No answer, just a stare. Never got the egg. Servers had 2 and 3 stars on aprons, not trainees. Never again do we do cracker barrel wilkes-barre. Manager wanted came without asking and wanted to know why we were unhappy. We never asked for him, but he cut the bill. Tipped Alicia good tho, l think she was NOT to be our server & covered for the airhead. Sorry I'm long-winded.

Stopped on our way up to NY. When the meals came, they weren't hot--they were kind of warm. My chicken n dumplings was congealed and the dumplings sticking together like paste. Another in our party ordered chicken fried chicken--which came out without gravy. The explanation? They were out. No offer to order something else and no advance warning not to order that since they were out of one of the elements. She did offer to bring brown gravy but it wasn't the same. As he ate the chicken, he got about halfway done and the chicken was raw inside. At this point we called for a manager. After more than five minutes (we were there after 8 o'clock and they weren't busy) one came out. Long story short, he agreed the chicken shouldn't have been raw and said they wouldn't charge us for it. That's all. No offer to bring us something else, since clearly we hadn't eaten all of our meals, or even to offer us a dessert. As soon as he left the waitress came with our check--minus the one dinner--and cleared everything away. So, if we thought we were going to fill up on the biscuits and cornbread muffins--that wasn't going to happen. And the worst part? My husband--who wasn't a big fan anyway but agreed to stop because I like Cracker Barrel--says he'll never go to another.

While visiting Wilkes Barre for a legendary AC/DC secret show, I struggled to find a good place for breakfast the first morning I was there. When I asked a local, he said, "Ugh, I hate breakfast." I was starting to think that this was a shared sentiment of the whole town. That is, until we stumbled upon the Cracker Barrel on the way to the Wachovia Arena. Wow. I'd heard the lore of the famous Cracker Barrel from my pals hailing from Southern States and I'd always wanted to experience the magic. Who knew there would be one in PA?! Amazing, buttery rich pancakes. Biscuits and apple butter to die for. A good cup of joe. I'm sure I gained some poundage after my meal, but it was worth it! I can't wait to find another Cracker Barrel on another trip out of state. I took home one of their handy maps so I'll always know when I'm near one of these little slices of high-calorie heaven!

We've eaten at Cracker Barrel restaurants in many different states while traveling, and they are all very good. They serve good "home cooked" style meals like your mom or grandmom would make. Their prices are very reasonable. Their breakfast items are very good, as well as their dinner selections. They also have a very nice country store at each restaurant which always has many very nice items for sale. We have found and purchased many unique items there. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because I think their coffee could be better, and also because we did not care for their "camp fire" dinners which were added to the menu recently. We found them to be extremely salty, so much so that we could not eat them. Everything else on the menu is very good.
